Say they are calling from York University (or McMaster, or Guelph, etc.) and that they want to speak with the owner about some work we did on a project there . . . they are actually selling advertising for a construction magazine which is showcasing a particular project, & General Contractor. Whoever the General Contractor was, on the project, the article is about them, and they provide the magazine with a list of all the trades. The G.C. gets free publicity, by having an article written about them in this magazine, The caller tries to "guilt" the trades to purchase advertising - a great opportunity, so many G.C.."s, architects, etc., will see their advertisement , you"ll be supporting the G.C. who awarded the work to you . . .
