They sent me a cheque with instructions of where to spend it on. Most was to be a money transfer through Western Digital. I would use my money upfront until the cheque cleared but it wouldn"t clear and I would be out of pocket the money I transferred.

Claimed to be a tax officer for the cra...very threatening tone...a automated message from #0112263122631 preceded this to call the above number due to tax fraud. Was told that if I didnt speak with him regarding money owed, an arrest warrent would be issued within an hour. They left a message saying that someone was filing a lawsuit against me and that if I didn"t respond to their message that they would put out an arrest warrant.
All of this was said in one of those robotic voice messages, which was what initially made me suspicious. I"m not calling back. Pretty sure that if this were true I"d get an actual visit or phone call from a police officer...and an actual human being at that.

I knew it was a scam right away. CRA does not call and threaten like that . I know because I had an actual (minor audit last year). They will call or send a proper letter usually asking for supporting documentation on something very specific you submitted on a previous return. CRA do not call and threaten and ask for personal information as a first contact.
