They call my cell phone periodically. They also call the house phone number also. Both phone numbers have been on the DO NOT CALL Registry for quite a while. Well when someone answers, they just hang up, and other times, no one answers. The message used to have an option to remove your number from the list. But I still get the calls. I received a call telling me that a sexual assault charge was registered in my name and if I didn"t call back immediately that an arrest warrant would be issued. I just got off the phone with "Chan" at the same number. She wanted to know more about the property, I asked if she was an agent or not (she sounded like she was on speaker phone or in a call centre, and she sounded scripted). She asked a few standard questions about the property (# of rooms and washrooms, do we still live there, why are you selling), then asked some more that were a bit odd:
- If I was to pay cash and want a quick closing, what would be the lowest you would go on the price?
- Do you have a mortgage on the property?
Of course, I didn"t answer these questions. Instead I asked for more information about her...she said she"s an investor with a partner and they would like to buy the property. The company"s name (she said) is Statue Home Buyers and their website (when I asked for it since it didn"t come up in Google"s search results), www.statuehomes.net was "down" due to "site maintenance". A load of c**p as the site doesn"t exist at all.
Finally, I asked if she"d like to make an appointment to see the property. She said she"d have to call me back. That was the end of the call. I think she realized that I knew something was sketchy.
