Anytime you give your number online (facebook or any other site) the internet stores it. These scammers can use free programs on the internet to scan "the internet" for numbers. These people most of the time will not know your name, they are basically calling random numbers until someone stupid enough will bite.... This is why nobody should give their numbers to any company online.. most of the time we are thinking it is harmless but anything on the internet can be tracked or hacked.. there they can check if any of their emails have been breached.. This means that if you signed up for myspace back in the day, you gave your email address to myspace.. in 2008 myspace was hacked and millions of peoples emails and other information was passed on to a hacker and this hacker may have sold this information to scammers or did something else with it...
