Got this info by reversing the number online. They called here for a person, and broke all the laws of collections. The always busy number they used was 604-546-0271. Got the 1-888 number from this site and called. There was an answering machine with a woman"s voice, calling herself Andrea. Having worked as a government collector in a third party agency, please everyone here heed this advice:
Contact your local government agency that governs the legislation and licensing for 3rd party debt collectors and tracers in your province or state. Give them all the information you have and do not give out any information to the caller from Wiggins, automated or not. Here are the rules they broke which result in serious penalties and possibly criminal prosecution for their actions:
1. the automated caller asked for a name and expected the receiver to press a selected number from a menu in the place of the legal method mandatory to use by the debt collection governing agencies in Canada and the USA
The collection agency should identify that they are speaking to the debtor. This is done by verifying personal information, and they are not allowed to identify that the party they are seeking has a debt. This information is collected and kept for future reference, and can be shared with other agencies, government or otherwise, so be careful. Only use your date of birth. Never give out your SIN number, or any other private info.
2. the company concerned identified immediately in the first call that there was a debt owed allegedly by the party they were seeking, breaking another law of 3rd party collecting in Canada and the USA
The laws of 3rd party debt collection legislation govern when, during what times, on what days, how, and how frequently the collector can call regarding a debtor they are seeking. Note: tracers can also be used to get info on behalf of bogus creditors, even private investigation companies, so be cautious and never give info out unless you absolutely are told who the creditor is to whom you allegedly owe money, who the agency is that is acting on behalf of the creditor, that the agency does not claim to be the creditor when they are not, that the collector gives out their full name and company they work for (contact info at that company), that the collector gives out an identifying file or reference number that can be used in all communications and/or legal actions, that the collector is from a legitimate company licensed to collect 3rd party debts and/or is the creditor, that their company name appears on the call display (not private number, blocked number, or just the number).
If the 3rd party collector refuses to verify formally that you are the party they are seeking, and/or identifies a debt of a party without doing this formal process, they are in breach of the law.
In the Prairie provinces of Canada, 3rd party collection agencies and the collector against which any complaint is made to the governing debt collection government licensing agency can fine them up to and above as a company and also the offending collector about 0,000 or more, and are at liberty to proceed with jail time if deemed appropriate or the offence has occured more than once to multiple complainants. The laws across Canada and the USA do not vary that much. Please take the time to contact your local governing licensing authority to deal with this.
Diamond Parking can and does use a 3rd party agency if they cannot collect on a debt. Other companies are no different. So, let"s get this crooked company brought into line. Remember, it is your credit and your reputation they are damaging. IF you oppose the collection, that is dispute it, they cannot collect on it or bother you about the debt until it is proven legally that you ever owed the debt.
I hope this helps. We are already filing a complaint and will keep you all posted. Nowadays some governing legislative licensing bodies can accept online complaints. Be polite. Stick to the point, and most importantly, keep only to the facts. It is not abuse to legally collect on a debt, nor harassment, but it is harassment and illegal to bother a third party, the wrong person, identify another person"s debt to another unauthorized person, and to bully or bother anyone without just legal proof.
FINALLY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:
All collection agencies, including creditors by law have to send you a notice in writing that you have a debt to collect. Any creditor will provide that information to a 3rd party agency or their own collectors. It will be specific, give information, who the creditor is, what the amount is, and how many days you have to respond in. If you do owe a debt, you can get payment plans that work within your budget. Don"t be bullied, don"t be rude and just stand up for your rights and know your rights. Don"t assume what is an is not within the law; get the facts and be proactive.

I make it a point to go to teh office library every Wednesday.
