A phonecall was missed from +1 (780) 306-1644. When this number was called back, they stated that they were with the CRA and that taxes were completed incorrectly.
At first my coworker tried to give a fake name - they said that there is no one there by this name and hung up. Then my coworker tried again and used his actual name, but a fake address and postal code.
The person claiming that they were affiliated with the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) and had a thick French accent. When my coworker asked for a police file number, they did not give one but the person on the other end claimed that he could give us his name and badge ID #. He stated that his name was "George Smith". My coworker asked him what nationality that last name was, and if he was french canadian, and the caller on the other end replied "You can"t ask questions like that"
and asked, "Where are you right now?" and got increasingly aggressive on the other end of the line. He also said that "the door will be broken down". They also asked if my coworker had a lawyer - to which my coworker replied his, his father is a lawyer. The caller claiming to be the CRA said that they could fight this in court, however IF they lose, they will be charged ,000.
